Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (2023)

Welcome to the Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide. This is the first title of this franchise for our current console generation. Compared to the two last titles, this one is quite online-heavy and an online-connection is needed pretty much at all times because most content and modes cannot be accessed while offline.

If you’re looking for a game to go trophy-hunting, this might not be your ideal choice, as this game features some long-winded online-grinds.

Here is a bit of general knowledge to the game and its mechanics – all aimed towards progression and trophies.

Whencompleting races and challenges, you will usually be awarded these four things:

The game also features an in-game-achievement-system on its own. Thereare a total of 20 of these, which measure your progression in different categories. Each achievementhas a total of three tiers – finishing a tier will give you bonus XP and Mileage Points. Here is a quick list of the in-game achievements and their tiers. Achievements which are also tied to trophies willhave a respective number behind their names.

Some of these are actually quite easy and yield a decent amount of XP for you.

No matterwhether you are new to the franchise or coming back after a break – refreshing your memory on the tracks, the cars and their handling is always a good thing. There is quite a number of Challenges and Tests you can prove yourself in while preparing yourself for the upcoming online portion of the game.

The online-part of the game will most likely take up most of your time, while also helping to level up and fulfilling other trophy-related milestones.

Matched Michael Schumacher’s record of 91 F1 victories.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (4)This Trophy is only possible while playing the Online-“Sport”-Mode.

After having finished the Etiquette Lessons, you are able to participate in online races against up to 23 other players. Usually, the grid is very full and you will seldom race against less than 20 others players.

There are “Daily Races” every 5 to 10 minutes which you can sign up to. For now (at release date), there is a section of three different races (A, B and C) which are heldfour times per hour each and are about five to fifteen minutes long in total. The three “Daily Races” change to threenew ones usually around afternoon time (Europe). Thereare also other tournament-like, which started in early November 2017. You can play either for your country or the Brand of your choice and can compete in a series of races, just like a real championship with different amounts of points for your position.

You can – and should – do some qualifying laps on the track to get a good position on the starting grid. Your best time will always be saved and you don’t have to qualify for the same track over and over again. If you have a good time that you are pleased with, you can just jump right into the race, maybe even with the pole position, depending on how good the other players were (if they did a qualifying lap at all).

Obviously, getting a good starting position is very helpful for winning – and so is knowing the track layout very well. Some races can be done with different cars, so you should familiarise yourself with your car and its handling by doing a few qualifying and warm-up laps with it.

Fair Play is important in Online-Racing, and breaking certain rules will be punished with time-penalties, which are added to the total race time. Racing fair and not racking up penalties might be beneficial in the end because the same obviously also applies to your opponents. If you come in second in the race but whoever came in first had a lot of bad driving maneuvers, he will be punished with additional time and you might end up winning the race in the end.

Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (5)Record Number of Races
Matched Rubens Barrichello’s record of 322 F1 races.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (6)This Trophy is only possible while playing the Online-“Sport”-Mode.

For this trophy, it is enough “just” to finish 322 online races. Even if you take the shorter five-minutes-races, this will take you about 30 hours. You probably want to aim for winning 91 games for theaforementioned trophy. Depending on your skill level and luck, even 322 races might be not enough to win that often – so you probably don’t have to worry about this trophy, but rather the 91 wins and 65 pole positions.

Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (7)Certified Genius
Matched Ayrton Senna’s record of 65 pole positions.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (8)This Trophy is only possible while playing the Online-“Sport”-Mode.

Before actually starting any online-race you can – and should – do some qualifying laps on whatever track you are going to race on. This will help you get familiar with the track and a better starting position on the grid will improve your chances of winning significantly.

First of all the good news: Your best lap-time will always be remembered, so you don’t have to do it again for the same track over and over. So if you do have a lap-time you are pleased with, simply enter the race itself.

The not so good news: You don’t know if your time is actually the pole. Let’s say 240 people enter the same race at the same time. The game will randomlysplit it up into ten races with 24 participants each. So maybe you are lucky and will be first, maybe you won’t. While match-making you will see a driver sitting on the ground in a garage. His number on the helmet will be your position.

Please note that you actually have to finish the race for the pole position to be counted in the statistics.

Accessedthe Ending Movie.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (10)To unlock the Ending Movie, you have to get at least bronze in:
  • all 48 Driving School Lessons. You have to get at least Bronze to unlock eachnext Lesson.
  • all 64 Mission Challenges. You can start any of the first eight Challenges; once you have Bronze in all of them, the next set of eight will unlock.
  • all 105 Circuit Experience Challenges. They are all available from the start.
Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (11)Tactical King
Earned Gold in all Circuit Experiences.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (12)GT Sport features a total of 105 Circuit Experience Challenges. The Circuit Experiences are next to the Driving School and the Mission Challenges one out of three pillars of the GT Offline Campaign.

In these Circuit Experiences, you will be taught how to master individual sectors of all the games’ tracks. Most tracks have between three and six different Challenges for you, however, the small oval track Northern Isle Speedway only has one, while the Nordschleife has a total of 12 Challenges due to its length. Once you have finished all trials for the same track, you will be awarded a random car.

Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (13)No Longer a Novice
Earned Gold in all Driving School challenges.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (14)There is a total of 48 Driving School Challenges – the first tier of 24 is aimed towards beginners, while the second tier focuses on intermediate driving maneuvers. You have to finish a Challenge with Bronze or better to unlock the next one. After each eighth Challenge, you will be rewarded with a prize car as a bonus.

As mentioned, the first set of Challenges features basics like accelerating and stopping, overtaking and some easier turns.

The second tier features some more advanced maneuvers like hairpin-turns and handling at higher speeds. Sometimes you have to handle extra conditions like worn-down tires, which makes controlling your car way harder.

Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (15)The Real Sector King
Earned Gold in all Sector King challenges in Mission Challenge.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (16)In the 15Sector-King-Races you need to improve your position in the racing field to 1st place before it’s over. As the race’s name suggests, they are just one sector long, so there is limited time and space to do so. The AI usually drives rather carefully, so you can use this to your advantage by racing a bit more aggressively. Most races don’t even penalize contact to other cars, so be sure to make use of this to get the upper hand.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (17)Rival Crusher
Earned Gold in all Mission Challenge races.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (18)The 32 Races are very much like the aforementioned Sector-King-Races, but they go the full distance of one or several laps. You need to improve your position in the racing field to 1st place before the race is over. The AI usually drives rather carefully, so you can use this to your advantage by racing a bit more aggressively. Most races don’t even penalize contact to other cars, so be sure to make use of this to get the upper hand.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (19)ConeKing
Earned Gold in allTraffic Cone challenges in Mission Challenge.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (20)This one is absolutely the easiest out of the “Earn all Gold”-trophies because there is actually just oneCone Challenge in the whole game.To be precise, it is Stage 1-4.

There are ten pyramids with ten cones each located on the track and you have to hit all 100 in the time-frame of 27 seconds.

Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (21)Super Rallier
Earned Gold in all Special Rallies in Mission Challenge.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (22)GT Sport features five Special Rally Races. In these, you need to navigate through some artificial parkour sections with sharp hairpins and cones. The track-layouts and the stadium-atmosphere have a certain Trackmania-feel to them. You need to cut the corners as sharp as possible while controlling your high-powered cars, which can accelerate sometimes a bit too fast – so be careful on the throttle.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (23)Relentless Chaser
Earned Gold in all Catch Up challenges in Mission Challenge.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (24)There is only one Catch-Up-Challenge in the game (Stage 4-2) and it is quite similar to the Races and Sector-King-Races, where you need to come in first while starting at the back. The only difference here is that you are a full lap behind.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (25)Speed Demon
Earned Gold in all Speed challenges in Mission Challenge.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (26)The four Speed Challenges are very straightforward: Drive within the slipstream of others to reach a certain required speed. These are amongst the easiest Challenges of all and you can most likely get the Gold Medal within three tries.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (27)Right on Time
Earned Gold in all Time Rallies in Mission Challenge.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (28)Time Rallies are another new mode in GTS. The objective in those Challenges is to have a certain amount of time left on the clock before crossing the finish line. There is a total of five of these.

In a Time Rally, you have to take a race for usually two laps. You start with a certain amount of time, which is obviously running down. Whenever you hit a checkpoint on the track (which usually corresponds with the three sectors of the track), additional time will be added to your timer, allowing you to continue the race. Just like any other Race or Challenge, there will be the three medal tiers Gold, Silver, and Bronze. If you finish the race by the skin of your teeth with one second left on the clock, you will be given the Bronze medal. If you have a comfortable amount of time like 15 seconds left on the clock, you will be given the Gold medal (obviously the times are different from track to track).

Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (29)One Lap Wonder
Earned Gold in all One Lap challenges in Mission Challenge.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (30)There is also just one of these races (2-7). You have to complete a full lap on Brands Hatch in a certain time. There will be other cars in the way, which you cannot collide with. There will be more cars than you can possibly overtake, so don’t worry about this and just focus on getting the required time for Gold.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (31)Experienced Driver
Drove for a total of 62.5 miles (approx. 100km).Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (32)This trophy will be the last of your worries – you most likely will even get this on your first day playing this game.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (33)Speed King
Recorded a speed of 187 mph (approx. 300km/h).Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (34)For this, you’ll obviously need two things: A decent car and a good track. Beware, that not all racing-modes work properly for this trophy.

The easiest way is to do it in the Mission Challenge 3-5. For the Gold Medal of this particular one, you are required to hit 300 km/h or more.

Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (35)My First Car
Bought your first car.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (36)Very straightforward trophy – once you have bought your first car, you will obtain this trophy.

You start the game with 50,000 Credits and could get this trophy out of the way easily, as there are a few cars which are cheaper. I wouldn’t advise buying anything early on because you will also start with a random gift-car and anything you can buy with 50,000 Credits is hardly better than your first ride. Better save it up a bit for something nicer.

Please note that for this trophy you actually have to buy a car with Credits. Gifted cars do not count towards this, neither do cars which are bought with Mileage Points, which is like a second currency for certain objects.

Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (37)First Victory!
Achieved your first ever victory!Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (38)Pretty self-explanatory: just win any race and you will be awarded this trophy. It doesn’t matter if it is an online or offline race.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (39)Route 66 Racer
Drove for a total of 2,451 miles (approx. 3,945km), the length of the USA’s famous Route 66.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (40)Just like in previous GT titles, there is a trophy for drivinga total number of kilometers. While the last two games required you to travel three times more, this one is very doable. You will get this a long time before you finish most other trophies – you don’t need to worry about this one, it will come naturally.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (41)Collection 10
Acquired a total of ten cars.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (42)Once you have added your tenth car to your garage, this trophy will unlock. It doesn’t matter, how you acquire your cars. These can be cars bought with either Credits or Mileage Pointsor gifted prize cars that you have won. You actually don’t have to buy a single car for this trophy, having just 10 gifted cars is fine, too.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (43)Endurance Racer
Drove for a total of 24 hours.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (44)This trophy will obviously take some time – 24 hours to be precise 🙂

Every second you are on the track will cumulatively count towards the total time. Races, Missions or Driving School Tests – everything will count. To check your current progress, take a look at you personal in-game achievements in the bottom right corner of the main menu.

Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (45)Recognizing YourTalent
Earned Bronze in all Driving School challenges.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (46)There are a total of 48 Driving School Challenges. Once you have reached the Bronze Medal for any Challenge, you will unlock the next one. The first set of 24 Challenges is the Beginner difficulty, the second tier are the Intermediate ones.

The Bronze times are actually quite fair. Bronze Medals will also be enough for winningnew random prize cars (for each row of eight Challenges). There also is a trophy for getting all Gold Medal’s on these – checkGran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (47) No Longer a Novice for this.

Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (48)Welcome to theGreen Hell
Completed your first lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (49)The infamous “Green Hell” – a track you can either love or hate.

Once you have completed your first lap in any race- or qualifying-mode, this trophy will unlock, even if it is just the first “Out Lap”.

For your own custom races, you need to be Level 20 to use this track, but there are other ways of taking a spin on this track:

The easiest would be to go in the Lobby-Menu and set the filter just to thetrack Nordschleife. There are always several people playing this track and there should be a few lobbies with no restrictions in terms of HP, Grade of yourcar or your skill/license-level. Simply join any lobby and take a spin on this 20 km long track.

Earned a total of 1,000,000 Drift Points.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (60)Drifting in GT Sport is actually not wide-spread. You can find Drift Races in the Arcade Menu. Racking up a million points will take while, so I would suggest you try out all tracks at least once and stick to a few that you like best for grinding a million points.
Each Drift-Track has three sectors in it, where your drifting actually counts. Try your best to avoid hard crashes into the barriers, as this will result in your current drift-score not counting. On average, you should be able to get something between 5,000 and 20,000 points per race.
A good choice would be “Colorado Springs – Lake”, where you can get about 13,000 points in 40 seconds.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (61)Newbie Driver

Reached Level 50.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (71)Reaching Level 50 will take youmany hours – this is potentially the biggest grind in the whole game.

Nearly all racing activities will net you XP, no matter if it is just a Driving School Test or a long online-race. Obviously, the XP granted will be different and reflect the difficulty of the task you have completed. A second source of XP is to finish the tiers of the in-game achievements for different driving milestones.

So far it is unknown if Sony will give us special events like double-XP-weekends in the future or implement the Daily-Login-Bonus, like in GT5 and GT6 with an upcoming patch.

As of Patch 1.05, there is a neat way to obtain some very quick XP and Money.

Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (72)King of the Ovals
Drove a total of 500 miles (approx. 806km) on oval tracks.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (73)As of now, there is only one truly oval track in the game, the Northern Isle Speedway. Its length is half a mile, so you need to do about 1,000 laps on this one. A lap takes about fifteen seconds, so a total of about four hours on this track should be enough for this trophy. This track is also featured as one of the regular and recurring online-races, so on your way to all those wins, you most likely will play on this track quite a bit.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (74)Top Photographer
Took 100 or more ‘Scapes’ shots or race photos.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (75)Scapes is Gran Turismo Sport’s rendition of a photo mode. There is a broad selection of locations which you can choose and place your cars in. There even is a free DLC on the PSN-store which adds hundreds of additional scenes for you to choose. It’s 9,3 GB large and can be found here(EU) or here(NA).

The Scape mode can be chosen from the top of the main screen. Pick any place you like and start to fill the scene with at least one of your cars. Once you are set, switch to the camera and start taking pictures. If you don’t want to create a hundred different pictures, you can also shoot the same motive over and over again. To quickly do so, press Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (76) , Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (77) , Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (78) , Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (79) one hundred times.

Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (80)The Charm of Customization
Showed off your first car customized with the Livery Editor.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (81)For this trophy, you simply have to open the Livery Editor from the left side of the main menu. Choose either a car, a suit or a helmet and start customising it to your liking. Just changing the color is fine, too. Then proceed to save your livery, upload it and finally press the Share-button on the screen (not the Share-button of the controller). This will post your livery to your wall and grant you this trophy.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (82)Master of Manners
Sport Mode open after Completing all Racing Etiquette Lessons.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (83)Probably one of the easiest trophies of the game – and hard to miss at all.

In order to participate in Online Races, you have to complete the Etiquette Lessons, which just consists of two videos that you have to watch. Both videos are about two minutes long each – you will get the trophy after having finished the second video.

Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (84)A Promise of Greatness
Completed any Driving School challenge at least one second faster than the Gold time.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (85)Not all Tests are possible to choose for this trophy, as most of the earlier Tests are merely longer than 20 seconds in total, making it nearly impossible to shave off another second from the Gold Time requirement.

A good choice for this trophy would be Driving School Challenge 24, which is the final event of the first tier. It is a full lap race with the target time of 47 seconds for gold. With a bit of practice, a time of 45,5 seconds is doable. Do yourself a favor: even if you realize that your current lap won’t be good enough, simply finish it. The more practice you have with the later sections and turns, the better.

Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (86)Run, Run, Run!
Completed your first Daily Workout.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (87)The Daily Workout always consists of driving 42 kilometers (thedistance of a marathon), which is very doable. You will always get a prize car as a reward for finishing a days Workout. This is something you should aim for each day because these prize cars can be as valuable as 1,000,000 Credits – which is a huge amount of money to accumulate in the first place.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (88)Tuning Addict
Fully tuned a car for the first time using Mileage Points.Gran Turismo Sport Trophy Guide & Roadmap (89)Mileage Points is a second form of currency, which is earned by completing races and challenges.

To tune a car, go to your garage, select a car and then choose settings. At the top of the screen, there should be an option called “quick tune”. Depending on the value of the car, the two options Power and Weightwill have a certain amount of tiers. You should use whatever car you start with, as the cheaper ones only have a total of four upgrades to buy, while high-endrace cars will be very expensive to fully upgrade. For your cheap car, you will need roughly 1,500 Mileage Points to buy all upgrades, which you will easily obtain within a few races or tests.

The photo-location Circuit de la Sarthe (where the famous 24 Hours Le Mans race is held) is available from the very start. It is located on the second page of the Scape locations.

The car can be obtained in three different ways:

  • You can buy it for 1,000,000 Credits from the Brand Central.
  • You might randomly win it.
  • If you have preordered the game, there should be a download-code for some Credits and cars – amongst them this particular one.
