Beginning The Game

This is a 2 to 4 player game. Each player has to choose a colour and a pokémon (pikachu, bulbasaur, squirtle or charmander). Two or more players can not have the same pokémon. Place the pawn of your colour Pokémon | Fun With Paper 2 (2) on the house of the same colour on the map

. TAKE THE CARD OF THE Pokémon YOU CHOSE AND KEEP IT WITH YOURSELFPokémon | Fun With Paper 2 (3). NOW, TAKE A BLANK PAPER AND WRITE THE FOLLOWING ON IT-

  • Money: $50
  • Number of Pokeballs: 2
  • Name: Name of Your Pokémon
    • Health: 20
    • Energy: 20

This tells you the money you have, the number of pokeballs you have (you can purchase more from the pokémon center) and the health and energy of your pokémon. In the beginning, you have 2 pokeballs. MOVING ON THE MAP

Pokémon | Fun With Paper 2 (4)

The map has dots all over it. You can move your pawn from one dot to another. On each turn, you can move one step in any direction. Pokémon | Fun With Paper 2 (5) The pokeballs represent the pokémon center. You can purchase items or heal your pokémon there. Pokémon | Fun With Paper 2 (6)represents the pokémon gyms. The houses on the map are the spawn points. Each player will start from the house of their colour. To move faster, you can go to any pokémon center and purchase a bike or running boots. They will help you move faster. To know more about them, read more info below.

CATCHING Pokémon

After moving from one dot to another, there is a chance that you will encounter a wild pokémon. To catch that pokémon, you need to have an extra pokeball. If you don’t have an extra pokeball, your turn will be over. If you have an extra pokeball, you can roll the pokémon die. The die will decide which type of pokémon you will encounter. If you roll the blank side, you won’t encounter any pokémon. For example, if you roll the die and get water, you will encounter a water pokémon. Now, you have to pick a level 1 water pokémon card randomly and it will be yours! To know more about the pokémon die, read more info below.

CHALLENGING OTHER PLAYERS

You can challenge any player to a pokémon battle. To do so, both of you must meet at the same point. After meeting, both of you can choose a pokémon and fight! Whoever loses has to pay the winner $20 (not real money but game money).

Pokémon BATTLES

Pokémon | Fun With Paper 2 (7)Pokémon | Fun With Paper 2 (8)

To start a pokémon battle your pokémon must have full health and energy. Place your pokémon card on the empty box facing your side on the pokémon battle board. The challenger attacks first. Only 2 players can participate in a pokémon battle. Both the players will attack one by one. If your pokémon is out of energy or health, you lose. Each pokémon has 2 attacks and one defence move. The first move is the normal attack, the second one is the special attack and the third one is the defence move. The normal attack costs 1 energy level, the special attack costs 3 energy levels and the defence move costs 2 energy levels. The numbers written after the name of each attack represents the damage it can do to different types of pokémon. For example, in this card, the attack “grass knot” will do 1 damage to a fire and electric pokémon, no damage to grass pokémon, 3 damage to ground pokémon and 3 damage to water pokémon. The numbers written after defence represents the health you will gain after using this move. For example, if chikorita uses defence against a fire type pokémon, then the health of chikorita will increase by 1. You can keep the track of your pokémon’s health and energy on a piece of paper.

If they win against you, then you have to give them your gym badge and they will become the gym leader instead. Defeat other gym leaders and collect atleast 3 gym badges to win the game!

Pokémon CENTERS

There are 8 pokémon centers in the game. The pokémon center has a pokemart and a healing center. You can purchase items from the pokemart to improve your gameplay or heal your pokémon at the healing center. To heal a pokémon, you have to place the pokémon card in one of the healing slots. Pokémon take 2 rounds to heal completely. So, you can’t use them for two rounds after placing them on the healing slots. If your pokémon has healed, you can take it back from the nearest pokémon center.

EVOLVING Pokémon
